Spence extends loan deal

25 November 2013

MK Dons have today (Monday) extended the loan spell of West Ham United defender Jordan Spence until January 4th 2014.

Spence, who joined the Dons on an initial 28-day loan last month, has been a welcome addition to the back four, playing every minute of every game since his making his debut away at Tranmere Rovers.

The former England Under-21 international’s initial deal expired after last weekend’s 3-2  defeat to Bradford City but he will now be available for the tough League 1 fixtures against Colchester United, Coventry City, Wolves, Port Vale, Crawley Town, Brentford and finally Colchester United and Crewe Alexandra in the New Year.

Spence will also be eligible for The FA Cup with Budweiser Second Round proper clash with Dover Athletic next month.

And speaking to mkdons.com, his manager Karl Robinson expressed his delight at securing the 23-year-old’s services for a further five weeks. He said: “First of all we’re thankful to West Ham United and Sam Allardyce for allowing us to keep him until the New Year.

“He’s done wonderfully well since signing for us and we’re very fortunate to have him until January. He is a typical MK Dons centre-back and they are hard to find.

“This now gives us consistency in the back four and it’s important over the forthcoming weeks and months while Antony Kay is out, that he’ll be there to fill that void."
